I’m the single mother of 3 grown kids (who will die when they see this), Samuel, 24 (on Sunday), Sarah, 20, and Rebecca, 18 — I always joke I couldn’t find biblical names so I settled. Unfortunately, some folks don’t get the joke. I live outside Washington, DC with all 3 of them (that’s right !!!!), my boyfriend, Barry, 2 dogs (Betsie and Dusty), and 3 cats (Whiskers, Vanilla, and Oreo). I’m sure you’ll hear lots about all of them on these pages.
I have a job (marketing professor at Howard University), two mortgages (anyone want to buy a house in Cincinnati, 2 car payments, and numerous other obligations — including being the chief cook and bottle washer at home, a Rotarian, and a volunteer for numerous organizations.
I love to cook (and unfortunately eat), I adore wine, and I like to get out and enjoy the area, whether it’s visiting the museums downtown, a new restaurant, hanging out in the harbor (DC), riding or walking the many trails around town, or just shopping with my girls. I’m an avid gardener and joke that I’d be a landscape architect if I hadn’t become a marketing professor. I also grow food — one of the new generation of gentlewomen farmers. We’re even looking for a summer place outside the city to expand our gardening and let the animals have more space to run.
